I finally found the template
I finally found the template i am going to use on this blog, but i still have to tweak it to perfection.
Lazy Saturday morning today... checking email, sipping coffee, hanging out. Coolness. :)

You must have heard about
You must have heard about the floods sweeping across Europe... well, Budapest wasn't spared, but after the great flood of 1873, our great-great-great granddads built tall walls along the danube that withstand a 10 meter flood. The one we had this week was 8.5 meters, and the city didn't have any serious problems, but there were quite a few unusual scenes (and the water level did break all previous records, and outside Budapest the little towns and villages alongside the river are very badly swamped).

Fun quote i found on
Fun quote i found on a message board a few weeks ago:
"We could learn a lot from crayons:
Some are sharp,
Some are pretty,
Some are dull,
Some have weird names,
and all are different colors...
But they all have to live in the same box."

More Starbucks ... It's sooo
More Starbucks ...
It's sooo funny... we went out for lunch and on the way we passed the Starbucks i was talking about below. An american guy was standing on the corner and pointing his video camera on the Starbucks logo and facade and apparently he was making video notes on his trip to Vienna... and i could catch one sentence he was telling his camera: "I can't believe it! Starbucks." :)
Starbucks.... No i don't hate
Starbucks....
No i don't hate it.
Yes, i hated it when i was in the US and Starbucks was EVERYWHERE. Every corner. And there were no other, funkier coffeehouses to go to, just Starbucks, Starbucks, Starbucks.
No, i didn't hate it in Vancouver, because there were fewer and i did find alternatives to go to when i didn't feel like Starbucks.
In Vienna, there are now 2 Starbucks places downtown that i can get to conveniently.
Yesterday i spent 2 1/2 hours in one of them and today i will do that again. You just can't beat it.. HUGE comfy armchairs, cool music, good coffee (yes - i do prefer their mocha to true Viennese Melange... it's just my taste). Now, the traditional Vienna coffee house is elegant, serious, smells of cigarettes and i always feel like i am in a historic setting and i should behave. Like in a theater or opera where everyone wears elegant clothes and talks just a bit quieter because the place has this atmosphere that you have to respect.
I just can't imagine tossing my shoes down and putting my feet up in the armchair to cuddle up comfortably with a book or magazine in a traditional coffee house. But i can do that in Starbucks, because it's made for that sort of lounging. And that's why i love it.
So there... i like Starbucks.

I found this on the
I found this on the Glitter boards today: Secret Cafes -
"A secret cafe is a cafe at someone's house. It's "secret" so it won't be shut down by the health service. Sometimes, one person makes the food and sells it for a small fee. ... Or people bring different dishes and drinks..." (quoted from someone's post)
How cool is that? I've never heard of such a thing.

I am thinking of finally
I am thinking of finally redesigning my blog and making it a decent site. Of course i have like 10 other projects that i should be working on... procrastination!! I went to www.blogdesigns.com for inspiration, because last time i was there the site looked so awesome, but they redesigned it and i don't really like the current design. :( So i will have to cook something up from scratch myself. It might not even happen for a while but at least i am decided now. :)

Last day of the Sziget,
Last day of the Sziget, finally! Yes, it's a cool festival, yes, i love going there, yes, i had fun, but 7 days is a LOT of partying in the dust and heat. I am tired, my allergy is horrible, and generally: i had enough. Today i only spent 3 hours out there, listened to a cool concert and then headed home.
I am still quite upset at how poor the music offering of this festival has been this year. Even last year's was cool, and we were upset back then i remember... had i known...

The loveliest blog i have read in a while: French Toast Girl
Sziget is on the way
Sziget is on the way (two more nights to go out of 7). I saw The Cure (boring), Quimby (favourite Hungarian band), a little bit of Die Toten Hosen (fun) and another local band so far. There are a LOT of foreigners this year, but overall attendance is much lower than expected, which i think can be explained by the lack of bigname concerts. The Cure was the main act, but why? They are living relics. The festival is fun as usual, but if there won't be more decent concerts next year i won't be coming for the whole week that's for sure.
